Monthly Grocery List for 2 People: A Stock-Up Checklist
Updated October 20, 2026
A monthly grocery list lets you buy the staples once and then top up fresh food during the month. This list is sized for 2 adults who cook at home and covers long-lasting groceries, frozen food and household supplies, grouped by store section. Change the number of people and the amounts update.
In short: below you will find the full monthly grocery list, how to split your shopping between monthly and weekly trips, and a button to put the whole list on your phone. Check off what you already have first.

Talklist keeps your list sorted by store section as you shop, lets you check items off, and lets you share it with whoever else is shopping. You can also add anything missing by saying it out loud: "two more cans of tomatoes, laundry detergent and a pack of sponges".

How to split monthly and weekly shopping
- Once a month: rice, pasta, flour, sugar, oils, canned goods, coffee and tea, frozen food, household supplies and personal care.
- Once a week: milk, yogurt, fresh fruit and vegetables, bread, eggs, meat and fish for the next few days. Here is a ready-made weekly grocery list.
- When you run out: anything that finishes early.
Avoid overspending and waste
- Check your stock first. Count what you already have before the monthly shop.
- Watch the dates. Buy long-lasting items in amounts you will actually use.
- Compare unit prices. A bigger pack is not always cheaper; compare the price per pound or ounce.
- Share the list. Send it to your household with a link and everyone can check off what they picked up.
