Weekly Grocery List for 2 People: A Ready-Made Checklist
Updated October 20, 2026
A weekly grocery list saves time and money: you walk the store once, skip the impulse buys and stop forgetting the one thing you went for. This list is sized for 2 adults who cook at home, grouped by store section, with quantities worked out for a week. Change the number of people and the amounts update.
In short: below you will find the full weekly grocery list, tips for adjusting it, and a button to put the whole list on your phone. Check off what you already have first, then shop.

Talklist keeps your list sorted by store section as you shop, lets you check items off, and lets you share it with whoever else is shopping. You can also add anything missing by saying it out loud: "zucchini, a carton of oat milk and a pack of paper plates".

How to build your own weekly list
- Start with a menu. Pick 4 or 5 dinners and a few breakfasts and lunches. Leftovers and snacks cover the rest.
- Check what you have. Look in the fridge, freezer and pantry before you write the list.
- Group by store section. A list sorted by section is faster and keeps you from missing things.
- Buy fresh food for 5 to 7 days. Stock up on long-lasting items once a month instead.
- Leave a line or two free for whatever you fancy during the week.
Need a monthly list?
Many households buy long-lasting groceries once a month (rice, pasta, canned goods, frozen food and household supplies) and top up fresh food weekly from a list like this one. Here is a ready-made monthly grocery list. For a paper version, see the printable grocery list.
