Aldi Grocery List: A Basic Weekly Shopping List for 2
Updated October 21, 2026
Aldi is known for a compact store and a smaller range of items than a typical supermarket, which makes a list especially useful: you can plan your trip around staples, then pick the Aldi version of each. This list covers a basic week for 2 adults, grouped by store section, with quantities worked out so you buy enough without overbuying. It is written as generic staples, because the exact products on the shelf depend on your store and the season.
In short: below you will find the full list, tips for shopping a smaller store with a list, and ways to keep the bill down, and a button to put the whole list on your phone. Check off what you already have first, then shop.

Talklist keeps your list sorted by store section as you shop, lets you check items off, and lets you share it with whoever else is shopping. You can also add anything missing by saying it out loud: "two bags of spinach, string cheese and a roll of paper towels".

How to shop Aldi with a list
- Write the list by store section. A list sorted by section keeps you moving through the store instead of doubling back.
- Plan around staples, then fill in. Buy the basics first and check what else catches your eye after, so you do not end up with a full cart and no dinners.
- Check what is in stock. Availability changes from store to store and from week to week, so be flexible about brands and sizes.
- Check the weekly ad. If your Aldi publishes a weekly ad, look at it before you finalize the list and plan a meal around what is featured.
- Compare unit prices. A larger pack is not always cheaper per ounce or per pound.
Keeping the bill down
- Choose the basics first. Pasta, rice, canned tomatoes, beans, eggs and seasonal produce stretch a long way.
- Buy frozen vegetables and fruit. They keep for months and are handy when fresh produce runs out.
- Plan leftovers. Cook once, eat twice, and use the second meal to use up what is left in the fridge.
- Check your pantry before you go. Do not buy duplicates.
This list names no specific products and no prices, because both vary by store and change often. Aldi is a trademark of its owner; Talklist is not affiliated with Aldi.
